CHENNAI: Veteran Congress leader, Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency MP and KPCC working president MI Shanavas (67) passed away. He died at Dr Rela Institute of Medical Centre in Chennai on Wednesday 1.30 am.
He has been suffering from health issues following a pancreatic surgery. He was admitted to the hospital on November 1 due to liver disease. He had undergone a liver transplantation on November 2. But was in critical condition due to infection.
His body will be taken to Noorjahan Manzil near North Railway station in Ernakulam from Chennai on Wednesday afternoon by flight. His cremation will be done at Thottathumpadi mosque in Ernakulam on Thursday 10 am.
He had been the member of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee since 1983, was elected to the Lok Sabha for consecutive two terms-2009 and 2014.
