KOCHI: Malayalam actress Bhavana has alleged that a kidnapping attempt was made on her last night. As per report, the actress was returning to Kichi from Thrissur, when a tempo hit the car she was travelling in.
After the brawl, some men in the tempo, pushed the actress’s driver Martinaside and got into the car. As per the IEmalayalam.com report, the men kept the actress hostage in the car and drove it for more than an hour in the city, taking videos and photos of the actress. The gang then dropped her at Palarivattom junction and fled away. The actress then herself drove the car to the home of a film producer.
As per the report, Martin, who was driving Bhavana’s car, was taken into custody as he is also suspected to be a part of the plot. The police claimed that the act was planned two months ago by one Sunil Kumar, a driver who was earlier employed by the actress.
Sunil Kumar was fired by Bhavana from his job for which he is suspected to have held a grouse against her.
While Kumar is the main suspect in the case, the whole act of creating the facade of an accident, attacking Martin and later kidnapping the actress was done with the knowledge of the current driver of the actress, police said. Martin was detained by the police early Saturday from Angamaly.
It is learnt that Bhavana has filed a formal complaint with the police. She had made her debut in the Malayalam film ‘Nammal’ in 2002. Since then, the actress has worked in over 70 films across Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada industries.
