KOCHI: After reports said that Malayalam actor-director Nadirshah will appear before the probe team on Monday, it has emerged that the police were yet to issue summons to him.
The director reportedly asked for a written summons to the cop, but they did not comply. Sources said it was unlikely that Nadirshah would appear before the special investigation team (SIT) soon.
Soon after the police called him for questioning last week, the director was admitted to a hospital. However, in a late-night development, Nadirshah left the hospital on Sunday.
Reports said that Nadhirshah has got legal advice, urging him to co-operate with the probe and that is what prompted the exit from the hospital. The actor also reportedly informed the cops that he would appear before them soon, but backed off when they refused to issue a written summons. Senior police officers already rushed to the Aluva police club, where many film personalities have been questioned in the past few months, after the director first agreed to appear before the team.
Though Nadirshah had informed that he would appear before the team by 11.30, he did not turn up at the said time. The police had earlier grilled the director for 13 hours in June along with his friend and actor Dileep, who was later arrested and remanded on charges of plotting the attack on the actress.
Late Night Drama
According to reports, the police Sunday night got him discharged from the private hospital. However, the special investigation team (SIT) did not confirm the reports.
Eyewitnesses said Nadirshah was seen leaving the hospital in a vehicle. His own car, however, remained at the hospital premises.
Nadirshah had also sought anticipatory bail from the High Court as indications emerged that he would also be arrested once the police completed evidence gathering against Dileep. The court has posted a ruling on the plea for September 13. At the same time, it rejected a plea to stop his arrest.
Even if Nadirshah is taken into custody, he can be arrested only after detailed interrogation.
Nadhirshah had recently visited Dileep at the Aluva sub jail.
The young actress was abducted and assaulted in a moving car in Kochi on February 17. The police had arrested Pulsar Suni, who had worked as a driver of many film personalities, six days after the incident. The police are probing if other people from the film industry have any links to the heinous crime.
